AJ's Angels golf scramble and silent auction

EAGLE, Idaho — More than 80 local golfers participated in a golf scramble and auction on Saturday, June 21, at BanBury Golf Course to benefit pediatric cancer victims and their families living in the Boise area.

AJ’s Angels is a non-profit organization that was established in 2001 in the memory of A.J. Engroff, the son of Adam and Beth Engroff, who lost his battle with brain cancer before his second birthday.

The organization’s past efforts have included nationwide donations including, but not limited to; $25,000 donated to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital for a play area in the pediatric pre-operative surgical area, a contribution to “Just Like Me” films for kids with cancer who are recovering from medical issues and going back to school, laptop computers for Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. and $40,000 for the remodeling and upkeep of a 2,116 square foot playroom at Miami’s Children’s Hospital.

Pacific Crest Independent Insurance Alliance (PCIIA) sponsored the 14th Hole at BanBury and PCIIA employees Kyle Moulin, Randy Richardson, Mike Guho and Steve Bowman participated in the charity event.

Participating in and donating to the organization’s events provides an opportunity for companies, institutions and individuals  to help contribute to thousands of children who are battling cancer while also honoring the memory of AJ.  Through events like these, the organization has provided funds to help relieve additional stress while battling this terrible disease and to facilitate children and their families to experience brief moments of joy during their daily struggles.

This particular event raised nearly $30,000 for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital of Boise.

Other area event sponsors included Corporate Office Installations, Hopkins Financial Services, BanBury Golf Course, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Premier Sports, Tom Scott Toyota, Exclusive Sports Group LLC, St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute, Pioneer Title, Caric Sports Management, Premier Signs Inc. and Split Rail Winery.

Meet Our Most Valuable Player Alex Pieters Pieters Insurance - Minden, Nevada MINDEN, Nevada — A small community of just more than 3,000 residents east of the southern tip of Lake Tahoe, Minden, Nevada, is a quiet little town in the heart of the Carson Valley.

For just about a quarter of a century, Alex Pieters was one of a handful of police officers in the county seat of Douglas County.

Knowing the community as he does, it made sense that Alex would hang his shingle in this community that once boasted it was a getaway destination for some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Clark Gable and Jean Harlow.

Alex understands that to succeed in a small town, being competitive with price is important.
